Founded by the Condé Nast magazine publisher, the college will give 300 students a year the chance to study at the heart of one of the worlds most exciting fashion capitals. The 45 inaugural students from 23 countries will each take part in the Vogue Fashion Certificate, an intensive 10-week foundation course on the ins-and-outs of the fashion industry. A year-long Vogue Fashion Foundation Diploma will follow in the Autumn of 2013.
Susie Forbes, the Principal of Condé Nast College and the former Editor of British Vogue, believes the college has “created a unique educational offering that, with its strong vocational bias, will arm a whole new generation of students with the skill and capability to pursue a successful career in the fashion industry”. It is also another institute which marks London out as one of the world leaders in the education of the arts and culture.
The college building – No 16 Greek Street in Soho – has been completely revitalised by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios in time for the grand opening. The all-white decor and outstanding facilities provide a state-of-the-art learning environment that is both inspirational and provocative.
Design agency Together Design was appointed to create the institute's visual identity. The result is a sleek and timeless one that comes to life in the details: carefully composed type, subtle foiling on print, and signs designed to make shadows. Forbes says of the design, Together “have creatively taken the nascent brand values of the Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design and transformed them into a modern, elegant visual identity”.
Working closely with Together Design and Susie Forbes, we managed the application of the identity across the college’s internal and external signage. This process included the planning and concept strategy for the new signage and the management of the manufacture and installation. The end product is stylish, subtle and striking signage which compliments the original architecture of the building.
